Simple Food, Warm Comfort: Easy Lentil Soup with Just a Few Ingredients
From your friends at NAAC Food Pantry

At NAAC Food Pantry, we’re always looking for ways to share meals that are simple, affordable, and nourishing—because everyone deserves to eat well, no matter what’s in the pantry.

One ingredient we love to hand out is lentils. And we typically get met with a frown: What do I do with these???

Lentils are full of protein and fiber, they cook quickly, and they don’t need to be soaked like other dry beans. Even better—they’re filling, flexible, and tasty!

Here’s a very easy lentil recipe you can make with just a few ingredients:

🍲 3-Ingredient Lentil Soup

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dry lentils (any kind)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 4 cups water (or broth if you have it)
Optional: Add salt, pepper, or a bouillon cube for more flavor.

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the lentils in a bowl or strainer with water.
  1. In a large pot, combine lentils, diced tomatoes (with liquid), and water.
  1. Bring to a boil, then turn the heat down and simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the lentils are soft.
  1. Add salt and pepper to taste if you have them.

That’s it! Serve hot, with bread or crackers if you like.
